A Bit About Me

Lee Nordbye

I am a full-time photographer based in Calgary, Alberta. I enjoy the peace and tranquility of exploring the beauty of the Canadian Rockies and places less travelled around the world. I would love to share these moments with you by capturing your adventurous and/or active soul in your favorite nature setting or under the spectcular night skies of your region. Portraits could be for engagements, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries or the annual family photos. I also provide adventurous photo stories for your organization's website, promotions, events, etc.

Finally, I host private or small group photography workshops that help people find their inner creative soul.

For more information, I invite you to browse through my portfolio section and preview the available portrait packages and/or contact me at lee@leenordbyephotography.com.

My Tip of the Month

The human eye and brain are still the most complex computer in the world. Because of this, the human eye's dynamic range (difference between the lightest lights and darkest darks) is a lot better than even your best cameras. Our human eyes can resolve as many as three stops more light than the best cameras. Post-processing can help compensate for this by adjusting the darks or lights in isolation of each other depending upon the photo.

One thing to remember is that photo processing cannot transition a poor or good photo into a great photo. That is still up to the photographer in how he or she composes the photo. In the end, the amount of post-processing you want to do is really up to your artistic vision and what you are comfortable with in terms of your views it.
